Saturday, November 8th - The Tracheotomy is done

Well, I stopped by the hospital this morning and got a chance to talk to Kirsty.

The tracheotomy was performed on Scott. Kirsty is quite happy about that. The comfort level for him just went up a notch. He can communicate a little easier by using his lips. There is no damage to the vocal chords, so with the help of speech therapy, he'll be able to communicate.

That also opens the door to him eventually being able to drink and get rid of that feeling of dry mouth.

So this is great news. A baby step at the time, we'll travel the road to recovery.

Kirsty also had a chance to read the blog entries, together with Scott. The both of them are extremely touched by all of your comments. Kirsty says we have no idea how much it means.

Please keep posting. While it may feel repetitive, it results in a ton of positive energy for their family.

In due time, Kirsty will be a poster on here. You'll be able to read her as opposed to me, a stranger to most of you.

Thank you.

Scott, Kristy, Tanner, Kobe and Rhys: We are thinking of you each and every day. If there is anything you need let us know. Scott you have touched so many little hockey players in this city and taught them well and continued to keep in touch with them. We are pleased you are such a great influence for Nick. And Nick was especially glad to hear there was no damage to your vocal cords because that means there is still one person who still cheers for Vancouver!!!!

I'm haunting this site several times a day, waiting for updates and news. I may as well leave comments, though I imagine they'll get repetitive after a while... :)
You're constantly on my mind, Scott, and I'm actively engaged in pleading with whatever deity will listen for your well-being, mentally as well as physically. I know it's a long road ahead, but with your spirit and our help and prayers and anything else we have to give, we'll walk this road together. You're not alone.

Great news! One step at a time, one day at a time! We have Uncle Scott's picture posted up on the fridge! You are in our thoughts every minute of every day! Hope the boys received the basket of junk food we sent:)))
William, in particular, wants an hourly update on Uncle Scott - he said he could probably "help" Scott in getting better. (tear)
Love to you all!! We will be seeing you soon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you through this adversity. We hope Scott recovers quickly.

It has been some time since we talked except in casual passing. So much is taken for granted. Get well soon.

Be strong Milne family.

Scott, Kristy, Tanner, Kobe, and Rhys,
We are thinking about you everyday. Scott you mean so much to Cameron as a coach. You believed in him and worked him to be a better player and he thanks you for that. Kristy if there is anytime you would like me to take the boys to give you a break, they are more then welcome to come and play with Cameron for the day. Our prayers are with you and will always look for updates on Scott's condition.

Scott and Kirsty,

We were relieved to read that the tracheotomy was finally done. Baby steps mean progress and hope. We've been thinking so much about you and the boys and at the office, Kirsty, it's just not the same without you. We get together everyday to hear the updates from Terri and talk. It makes us all feel a little closer to you and the family.

As always, you are in our prayers. We are here to help in any other way we can too.

In strength and love,
Bruce, Judy and Abigale

Scotty,

I have known you for going on 10+ years now and I know that you are a tough man. Wirey but still tough. When I got the news, I was shocked. But I am glad things are moving forward, you never were a quiter. Even though I am up in Ottawa, if you, Kirsty or the boys need anything please let me know and I will drop what I am doing and be down my friend.

Always your good friend and lots of love

Dear Scott Kirsty and boys.....

God bless and Scotty, you get better, you have a beautiful family and terrific friends pushing for you and just knowing you are going to get through this!

Hi Kirsty,

Terri emailed me to let me know what happened and we ran into each other at the mall today when she told me about this blog. What a great way to keep everyone up to speed on what's going on.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Scott's accident. I hope that they're treating you well in the ICU, I work with some of the docs there and they are a very talented and kind bunch. Dr. Roy Ilan in particular is a sweetheart!

My Wednesday morning Bible study group is praying for you, Scott and the boys. I hope that you'll all feel God's love and presence in your lives during this very difficult time. You're never far from my thoughts and are in my prayers daily.

Much love to you all! Stay strong.
Val

Scott,

It has been quite a while. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I still remember four tall teens bombing up the bypass in the brown Mini Austin.

I was shocked and upset when I heard the news of your accident. My thoughts, my hopes, and my wishes are with you and your recovery.

Take Care!

Milne Family,
If there is one person more stubborn then Kirsty...its you Scott. With your attitude and motivation, nothing will keep you down for very long. As for the talking, I am sure Kirsty can help you there. She is an expert. Tanner, Kobe and Rhys, give your Dad a big hug for us and Kobe make sure you wear those Montreal Canadien Colours. Scott and Kirsty first chance I get I will be home to see you....hell I might even where a Canucks shirt.

In our prayers for a speedy recovery.
Love

I have only known Scott for a few months but have learned how straight up he is and see that as a quality that puts him well above many.I just want him to know that we are praying for his health and his life so we can once again work as a team.If I know one thing about Scott , it's that he is a team member and we all need team members. Please pass this along with our hearts to his family and Friends.
