The news a week ago was a terrible shock. I have been getting regular updates from Deanna and Scott. My thoughts and good wishes go to you, with hopes for improvements as they may come. Let me know if I can do any fetching and carrying for you. The spare room is made up and ready whenever you might need it for visitors.

Hi Guys,

We just found out and are all in a state of shock. It's hard to find the right words to express both our profound sadness and our deepest hope for the best. I guess the simplest thing to say is that you guys are always in our thoughts and we'll be there for you all if there is anything that you need. We'll keep watch on the blog and will be in touch shortly.

Always,

Hey Scotty, Claude is right "baby steps" and one day at a time. I remember a young RCD trooper in germany who like you suffered the same type of injury. He recovered from his injury. Keep positive and take your time, it may be a long road to recovery, but knowing your personality, YOU CAN & WILL DO IT. Kirsty, please feel free to call upon us for our assistance at any time. By the way, Scott, your BC Lions won yesterday and now move onto the confrence finals next weekend. Maybe they will meet in Montreal for the Cup.

Kirsty, Scott and family, please know that Steve sends his wishes for a speedy recovery as well, we heard the day he left, and he's just today able to get onto a computer. I have said prayers for you all and will continue to do so. We have two spare rooms as well for anyone coming to visit. Our number is in the book for that or anything else I can help with. God be with you all, you need Him now!! Nicole, Steve, Devon and Tyrell

It is hard to believe that a week has already passed since I received the horrible news of Scott's injury. As Scott knows, I was retired from coaching hockey but when I received a call to carry on the duties in Scott's absence the answer was so very easy for me to make," I would be honoured" Scott and I share the same passion for the game of hockey and I will be sure to keep that passion alive in the dressing room and on the ice. Each and every game is being played for "Coach Scott"

My thoughts and prayers will be with Kristy, Tanner, Kolby and Reese each and every day and wish Scott a speedy recovery.

Thinking of you always

I don't know you very well Scott but we have many mutual friends who do. Whenever someone would bring your name up in a conversation over the years I only ever heard positive comments about you. You are very well liked and admired by your friends. One only has to read the comments posted here to see that.

Wishing you all the best on your Road to Recovery. You have many friends ready to help you get there.

Scott and I served at CFJSR Sp Sqn in 2005. I would appreciate if you passed on to him how I wish him and his family the best recovery possible in such a difficult time. I wish you courage and determination in the months and years ahead. I have no doubts that Scott has the inner fortitude to surpass this terrible event and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his
family.

Claude I want to thank you so much for setting up the blog. This is a great way for all of us to be connected with the family. We met Scott and Kirsty during our prenatal class 13 years ago. We have been through alot together and we will get through this! The road to recovery will not be easy but Scott is one of the most determined and stubborn people I know. He will get the job done! Kirsty you have amazed me with your strength and perseverance. Kirsty and Scott are very positive and this will go a long way. You have both made an impact on so many people and it has clearly been seen during this time. I work at the hospital so if I can help anyone in getting anything to the family let Claude know and he can reach me.

Hello Scott & Kirsty & family,

So glad to hear that good things are happening. They say that laughter is the best medicine, saw this and thought of you!!

At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 7 year old hockey players aside and asked, Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The little boy nodded in the affirmative. Do you understand that what matters is not whether we win or lose, but how we play together as a team?" The little boy nodded yes. So," the coach continued, "I am sure you know, when a penalty is called, you should not argue, curse, attack the referee, or call him a pecker-head. Do you understand all that?" Again the little boy nodded. He continued, "And when I call you off the ice so that another boy gets a chance to play, its not good sportsmanship to call your coach a dumb asshole, is it? Again the little boy nodded. "Good," said the coach. "Now go over there and explain all that to your mother..."

Dear Kristy,

Please let me express my deepest sympathies to you and the children. I was shocked and shattered when I heard about Scotty's horrific accident. I can't even imagine what you have been going through for the past days.

Scott and I have been friends and soccer teams for the past six years. His tragic injury leaves a terrible void not only in the office, but also on the soccer pitch. He is so well-liked and respected by everyone who comes into contact with him, both colleagues and clients alike. He has tremendous people skills, and as such, is a role model in our company and the military family at large.

I trust that, the boys will be made aware of what an outstanding person Scott is in all aspect of his professional life.

Please feel free to contact me if I can help in any way while you go through this very difficult period. I will support you in any way that I can, should you reach out to me.

Also, please tell the children how terribly devastated all of us are here at CFB Borden due too their Father's injuries.

Sincere,

Cpl Bernard

Kirsty;

I know in a lot of ways, your role is the hardest of all here. Scott knows what he has to do; his mission is straight-forward: Heal. Rest. Recuperate.

Yours, though, is the tough one. Holding the family together, keeping your boys from despair, keeping your own spirits light so as not to worry anyone. You have a hard row to hoe, girl. We all know it.

That being said, please don't take it amiss when I direct the largest part of my comments to Scott. I've met you but a few times at JSR Christmas parties, but I've worked with Scott for years and harbour a deep respect for him. I acknowledge your crucial role and the role of your family, but I owe a debt of gratitude and more to Scott, and talking to him, even if it's via email, makes me think I'm helping him in some small way. Is he conscious and aware? Will he hear these words; do these comments get read to him?

Scott and Family,

I was hunting last week and heard the news of Scott's injury. As soon as I got back to Kingston, I tried to get an update on how Scott was doing. He was one of the first people I met in Kingston 10 yrs ago, when I had car trouble and Scott and Claude stopped to give me a boost. I'll always remember that kind gesture, and I know that everyone else has been blessed with a kind gesture or a good laugh provided by Scott. That positive vibe and attitude will return all the Faith, Hope, and Love you need to make a recovery. You have a lot of people in the Milne Family corner.

Kirsty,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. All I can think of is your smiling face at the Homecoming football game, despite the fact that you were cold and soaked from rain having given up your poncho to Mrs. Dodge. Always willing to sacrifice for someone else. I know it must be hard to keep smiling but your positive energy and the positive energy of all your friends and family will see you through this.

Our thoughts are with Scott and his family and we wish to help however we can. We would like to make an offer to prepare some meals for the family, as this will be one last thing for them to worry about. Please advise us with an address and time that we could drop off some food dishes.

It seems like not so long ago we watched you move in two doors down from us on Rose Abbey - then baby showers, then we held babies up to visit over the back fence!

Then it was all five kids together at daycare! then soccer ... then the hockey rink ... our lives have come back to touch base several times over the past twelve years! I so hate that such a terrible accident is what brings us back to touch base this time!

Please know we are thinking of you, all of you, and are sending all good thoughts and best wishes for a full recovery - I'm sure it won't be easy, but hopefully knowing and seeing from all these comments that you have so much support will in some way help you find the strength you each need to deal with the difficult days ahead.

Hello to the Milne Family. Our family has had the opportunity to experience Scott's positive energy. Scott truly has a gift with children and we have all experienced this first hand. Scott was involved with Blake when he first started to play hockey and also helped out with Emma when she was in IP. Scott's gentle heart and encouragement gave Blake the confidence to work hard and learn the game of hockey. With Emma, Scott magically got her to stay on the ice without bursting into tears. Collin looked to Scott for advice when coaching because he knew he was learning from the best coach he had ever met. When Scott would enter any hockey rink I think every person knew who he was and would stop to talk to him. Scott you are such a positive role model for both the young and old and I hope you realize the many lives you have touched and will continue to touch in a positive way.

Kirsty, I just wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and the boys as well as Scott during these times. Connor and I had the pleasure to meet Chris and Scott's Dad at Canadian Tire on the weekend. It was also nice to see Tanner and Rhys in fine form. Tanner had the most to say updating us on his Dad's condition and bragging that he was breathing on his own for 2 hours. They know how strong their father is and they will not let anyone forget that. If there is anything we can do please don't hesitate to call. Chad, Allyson, Clare and Connor.
