Post-Fundraiser - Monday, February 16, 2008

Thank you, thank you and thank you!!!!

We were completely overwhelmed Saturday night at the Milne Family Fundraiser. The incredible organization/planning of this event, the number of people in attendance, the level of volunteerism as well as the amount of items donated to the silent auction and balloon draw were absolutely amazing. We had no idea of the grandeur of this event and just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved.

Scott was very disappointed to have to leave so early, but at this point, he is at the mercy of the Access Bus so this dictated the timing of his appearance.

As Claude mentioned, right now the Department of National Defence is covering most of Scott's costs, and will be assisting in home renovations as well. We are going to keep this money aside for items Scott will need that the military will not be able to cover. The fundraiser raised an incredible $30,000+, and that is thanks to ALL OF YOU :!:

Scott and I were both in tears on Sunday when we were discussing the event and we hope that you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

Saying thank you cannot even begin to cover what we are feeling, but at this point it's all we can say.

I don't think you will ever realize how much you have touched our lives by your incredible support and generosity, but please know we truly appreciate it and are completely humbled by the support of all of you and the greater Kingston Community.

With sincere thanks,

Kirsty, Scott and the boys (aka Team Milne)

One couldn’t get that many people in one room and that much support and generosity for just anybody. The main reason for the success of the event is you. Because of who you are and how you’ve touched people.

Mother Theresa said: “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

On Saturday night, the ocean simply returned the favor.

Thank you for your friendship. I will cherish it for ever.

Scott and Kirsty: First of all, what a great dance last Saturday night. We were so glad that we were able to join everyone in showing our support for Team Milne. We must say the best part of the night was when Scott arrived. Scott you are amazing!!! Thank you to everyone who made this night such a huge success. And second, we are so glad that we were able to visit you yesterday at St. Mary's. Nick is still telling everyone about seeing you both and how much he enjoyed the visit and certainly is coming to visit again. He watched the game last night and yes we even heard him cheering for Vancouver if you can believe that!!!! You both are such an inspiration for everyone. Keep up the great work.

Heya, Scott. Just wanted to say thanks for the company when watching the end of the first period Sat night. I'm sure it would have been more stimulating had you actually been awake :)), but I understand you had a very busy day with all your visitors. No harm, I'll try again another time I'm home. Take care, keep up the hard work; I see improvements every time I see you!

Scott, I am just catching up on your progress and am in awe at your determination. I read Darcy's latest comment and agree with it all. The newspaper article was great and it is so wonderful to see how much support you have. Kirsty, you are truly an amazing woman. I think you and Scott must get your strength from each other. Like George said, your love and support for each other is an inspiration for us all.
Scott, I am so happy for your progress, and I wish you and your family all the best.

Scott and Kirsty; I just got back into town from a course in St-Jean and unfortunately had to miss the event. I am so happy to hear it went so well. Scott, I was particularly happy with the fact that you were able to make an appearance and witness first hand how many lives you have touched over the years and how much of an inspiration you are to us. I am always impressed but never suprised with your progress. Soldier on my friend. Rob
