Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know I'm still here. I guess my promise to post more often shouldn't have been a promise! Not a lot to update, so I won't promise any more, I'll just post when there are updates.

Let me start with some thank you's. Kirsty, the boys and I have been completely overwhelmed by people's generosity, and we can't believe we are still receiving donations....we don't want to single out anyone as there have been several anonymous donations directly to the bank, but in addition to those, people have been sending us donations directly and they range from the guys in Afghanistan pooling their money to a young fellow's birthday party who asked for donations instead of gifts, to church's we don't even belong to, to people we've never even met.....overwhelming is the word that seems to encompass how we feel, and a huge thank you is all we have in return.

I am also glad to tell you that we are using all these donations towards a van. We are awaiting information on the van conversion, and once we receive that, we will be purchasing a vehicle for conversion. We are VERY excited about this and want to thank you all for making this possible. It will be a whole new freedom for me and I cannot wait.....won't be the hummer I wanted, but it will be just as big!

I have not regained any movement, but am getting stronger every day in the movement I have. I seem to suffer chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs), so this seems to be par for the course. I've been feeling well this week though :D

I have also been going home for overnights every weekend. I go home Saturday morning, and return Sunday evening. We have a nice family dinner with my folks on Saturday and just quiet family days on Sunday. The boys seem to really like this as they find the hospital a little boring. We are all anxious to get me home permanently, but that's still a few months off. We have seen 'first draft' plans for our home renovations, but even once the plans are finalized, it will be awhile awaiting approvals, permits, etc. Kirsty and the boys will have to move out of the house during the renos. (not sure where yet), but we all realize this is one step closer to getting me home.

Anyways, that's the big update. Again, Kirsty, the boys and I cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity, both financially and emotionally. We appreciate all the prayers, positive thoughts and well wishes you have all been sending our way.

Sincerely,

Scott & Team Milne

Hey Scott,
I realize you are getting all sorts of advice and direction to your care, but my wife is an LPN and she has worked with many people in your situation. She says that Cranberry juice can help with the UTI to a certain degree. Glad to here things are getting closer and closer to "home" phase.

Scotty,
Keep up the good work old boy. Great news about the van, and let the donations and gifts be a blessing and reward for all of the lives you've touched and continue to touch. Sure wish we were closer, but I am afraid the posting to Ontario is off and we will be moving overseas - Good news for the Harvies, but it sure makes it hard to catch up with old friends :'( . Trust that we think of Team Milne a lot! Cheers, Harv, Treena, Zac and Abby.

Scott, Kirsty and Boys: Glad to hear that plans are starting to come together for your house renovations and also for your new van. This will certainly help make things much easier both at home and on the road!!! I saw the boys yesterday at the rink for tryouts. I hope that they all had a great tryout. I am sure that they played with the determination that you have taught all the boys during hockey. Nick is also in tryouts and hopefully will have good news this weekend. We will keep you posted on that. We are coming by soon for another visit and catch up on all the news. If you need anything let us know. Keep up the great work Team Milne.

Hi Scott,

I should have posted earlier but you know how easy it is to get sidetracked...

It was great to see you (almost a month ago now) and it is even better to know that your renovation plans are progressing.

Tell Kirsty she is one strong woman. Life dealt your family an aweful hand but I was so impressed by the "family atmosphere". Team Milne will succeed.

Take Care and as always our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Theresa

Hi Scott,I haven't checked your blog for quite sometime. It is good to hear that you are getting some at home time. I'm sure your boys love that. I have been busy with my Mom. She is 82 and was diagnosed with kidney cancer a little over a month ago. Since then, we've had her to Vancouver for kidney removal. She is recovering at home in Salmon Arm.

I hope the van plans are coming along. It sure will be nice for you and the family to have accomodating wheels. The home renos sound complicated but I'm sure they will come together well. It sure feels good to read your entries and to see how positive you have remained. You are a great role model for all of us out there. Keep on Keeping on my friend. May you have continued success until I'm in touch again. Take care.

Love, Kathy

Well it's been quite a sping here, so sorry for not saying hi before this. I do keep up on your progress and I think it is wonderful that people are so generous to you, you do deserve it all. You are truly an inspiration to everyone. Kirsty, I always thought you were an amazing woman, now I don't know what word to use, you go so far beyond amazing.

Hope the Van and the House Renos go well, and quickly!

Always in our thoughts.

Although I imagine that the routine of getting through each day seems, well, routine to you, you have a whole pile of people out here in Blogland who are waiting for another status update. Sure, maybe not much has changed since May, but we'd like an update... are you mostly at home now, or just every now and then? How is your therapy going? Do you have the van yet? Have the house renos started? etc etc. Information please!

As for me, I'm almost done the second semester at college. The first was hard, trying to get used to new schedules and homework all the time, but I ended up on the Dean's List when all was said and done so I must have been doing something right. Exams for the summer semester are coming up in mid-Aug... I'm mostly ready. And then... three whole weeks off before the fall semester kicks me in the head all over again. I never thought being a student again would be this much work, but strangely, I'm loving it.

That's me. Your turn! :)

Hugs and prayers as always, Scott. And the colour of my sky today, in case you're wondering, is pink. ;)

Its been awhile since I've said hi - I know that you are all terrible busy with rehab, rebuilding, refocusing...all that "re" stuff that has landed in your laps.

I want you to know that your family is always in my thoughts and prayers.

Just thinking about you...Cheryl

Hi Scott,
I've been working all over the place the last few months and finally got back to Kamloops. I can't believe that it's already July, anyway now that I have a few days off work I've had some time to catch up on a few things including reading the blog and your progress.

I hope you have your van by now and can get out more. I can imagine that being away from your family and home is frustrating, I know it is for me when I'm away at work and missing out on having fun with my kids. I also hope the home renos have started and are going smooth, although I really don't think there is such a thing as a "Smooth home renovation".

Since I've been working out of town I haven't had a chance to talk to Darcy or Sean in a long time so I don't know what's new with them but I did here that Larry and Flavio just had kids. Well not with each other, with there wives... you know what I mean. So I thought I would pass that on in case you didn't know.

Anyway there isn't much else new out here, I was just thinking of you and Kirsty and thought I better send a quick 'hi' out your way and make sure you are still keeping up that possitive attitude you have always had.

Take care Team Milne and I hope to see another update soon. George

Was thinking about you today for some reason, probably because I heard from George C, made me think of all the grief you, George, and Sean caused me. Just returned from Europe with Nathan (my 10-year-old), were gone for a month. Both my boys, Foster is 7, have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy so I try to take advantage of the time I have. The boys are in an experimental drug trial up at Shriners and we are lucky that Nathan is still walking at 10. I definitely understand the challenges that lie ahead for you and especially your family but I cannot really put into words that it will all fall into place. New things come up regularly in our home with the boys and you know what, it just works itself out.... I live every day telling myself it is what it is and I have a choice, either live my life happy or cause all those around me to suffer with negative thoughts. If you are still anything like you were when I knew you, I know your life will be full and happy. You have a GREAT looking family, the cutest boys, and they will keep you young and vibrant I do not doubt. I wish you a speedy journey home and know that I am thinking about you. Margo
