Dear friends, your assistance is required.

Hello to All,
We are writing this blog on behalf of ourselves and Kirty's Mom and Dad. As you are all aware, the house renovations are not moving forward at this time. Scott is now in the process of appealing the militaries decision not to construct an addition to their home. As Scott informed you in his last blog up-date an addition or a re-build is the only option. Therefore, if you have the time and are willing to help we ask that you contact your local M.P. (c.c. to Peter MacKay, Minister of Defence) and ask for their help in this matter. Fran and I have e-mailed our local M.P,'s, Peter MacKay (with no reply) and Kingston M.P. Peter Milliken who is looking into this matter for us.
When we arrived here five months ago we expected to help during the construction (especially since last Oct. we were told that the house was a top priority for the military) and were sure that when we headed for home in Sept. the family would be settled in their new surroundings and would be able to put some normalcy back into their lives. Now we are preparing to leave here with a very heavy heart because Scott will still be in the hospital and the family is still in limbo. Perhaps some pressure on the military from people other than the family will help to speed things along.
We thank you so very much for all the encouragement you have been sending and for any help you can give Scott and Kirsty in this matter. Diane and Norm Milne

I will be meeting with the Scott's parents this week.

I have recieved great advice from a friend who is experienced with government lobbying.

I will either obtain a copy of the letter the Milne's wrote or draft a new one. That letter will then be available for you to input your personal information. You will be able to print it and send it. I will also try to post the contact info for the appropriate politicians.

I had reservations in using a cut and paste type of letter but I have been assured that it pretty much has as much weight and people are more likely to send one that way.

An other option will be to have a letter available in key locations for people to sign in support.

I'll keep you updated.

Excellent idea. I look forward to helping out for sure. As soon as the letter is complete, you can count on me and everyone else I lobby to send one in. I have been updating many on the problems and all are eager to help in any way they can. I await the letter.

In that Scott and the family have had some media and newspaper coverage in the past, can you go to the Whig with this further update and bring some public attention to the matter which may put pressure on the military to act??

I do not know Scott and his family personally but have followed his blog all along. I would be more than happy to send a letter, I will also have all my family do the same.
Scott coached my young granson in the IP program.
I will await a copy of the letter to send.

I have been asked to hold off on the letter writting campain until further notice.

Let's wait for the word from Scott's familly so not to risk jeopardizing negotiations that might be in place.

We are up and ready for the writing of letters. Just let us know when and where to send them.
Its raining like crazy in sunny Harrison and Mesa is looking good to us.
Take care now!

Scott/Kirsty

We are patiently waiting for all the ducks to line up so the letter and e-mail storm can begin. The fight is only beginning.

Sorry everybody

I am away from home teaching for the Ontario Fire College. I will be back home on Sunday and will work again on the lettre. I had one ready, but after talking to Kirsty and Scott's parents, I now have more information to put in the letter so it has a bigger impact.

I apologize again for the delay.

Here is an update on the letter writing campaign.

I initially wrote one letter for everybody to use. I brought it to Scott and his family to view. While talking to them that day, I realized there was more material that could go in the letter. So I figured I would re-write it. I knew I had a small window of opportunity to write it as I was getting in a very busy time of the year for me. I kept putting it off to the next day as I had stuff to do.

I have come to realize this week that I let Scott, Kirsty, Tanner, Kobe and Rhys down. Every day I was late writing that letter meant another day in the hospital for Scott. I feel terrible about that and I want to apologize to all of you.

I talked to Kirsty again today and the letter will be written by somebody that can be depended on. It should be made available soon so copies can be printed, signed and sent.

Thank you

Claude

Don't be so hard on yourself Claude. I'm sure Scott can relate on the being to busy to write aspect...

As for someone else writing the letter, I think it should be written by a lawyer or someone with experience in lobying (perhaps a union rep?). Anyone out there know someone who could write a great letter (that wouldn't interfere with The Milnes appeal proccess)?

Scott, hope you're keeping all those nasty microbes away. And that you are enjoying all the family time you can. You may not be home soon enough, but you can still be energized by your loved ones.

Sending love to the Milne Clan, hopping the boys had a good "back to school". xx

Is it possible to revise the plan to fit in with what they're willing to do? Sometimes it's a matter of "playing the game". What about doing a "rebuild" right behind your existing home, and then connecting them somehow, and maybe doing minor renos to the existing house (maybe another fundraiser?). I will certainly send a letter.

I'm sorry that you're having so many issues, Scott (both healthwise and red tape-wise). It would be so much better if you could just get home.

I think about you and Kirsty often and wish that there was something more concrete that I could do for you.

**** Sent to my E-mail, Oct 21 ****

Hi Scott,I've been away for awhile and have just now checked in on your blog. I am disgusted that nothing has been done for you and your family regarding your house. It must be terribly discouraging for all of your family. I stand by my pledge to write letters but it seems that that has been put on hold for now. Just let me know when I can start and I will. I guess your boys are now settled into the new school year and, if they are like Braedon, are well into the hockey season as well. I hope they have a great year with all of their activities. Our family is going to be kept busy over the next little while. While I was away, a tree fell into our cabin on the Shuswap. It did serious damage and, through consultation with experts, we have decided to do a salvage operation. Not an easy task in such a remote area and given the time of year. We can only get in and out by boat and heavy supplies will need to be carried up by barge. However, we will go one step at a time and piece by piece until we have a cleared site and a place to put a new cabin. I will keep posting to your blog to see if there is anything I can do to help you and your family out. Take care. Soldier on and I will be in touch soon. Love, Kathy
