Hello to All,
We are writing this blog on behalf of ourselves and Kirty's Mom and Dad. As you are all aware, the house renovations are not moving forward at this time. Scott is now in the process of appealing the militaries decision not to construct an addition to their home. As Scott informed you in his last blog up-date an addition or a re-build is the only option. Therefore, if you have the time and are willing to help we ask that you contact your local M.P. (c.c. to Peter MacKay, Minister of Defence) and ask for their help in this matter. Fran and I have e-mailed our local M.P,'s, Peter MacKay (with no reply) and Kingston M.P. Peter Milliken who is looking into this matter for us.
When we arrived here five months ago we expected to help during the construction (especially since last Oct. we were told that the house was a top priority for the military) and were sure that when we headed for home in Sept. the family would be settled in their new surroundings and would be able to put some normalcy back into their lives. Now we are preparing to leave here with a very heavy heart because Scott will still be in the hospital and the family is still in limbo. Perhaps some pressure on the military from people other than the family will help to speed things along.
We thank you so very much for all the encouragement you have been sending and for any help you can give Scott and Kirsty in this matter. Diane and Norm Milne
First of all, while there is no major progress to report, Scott's spirit has been pretty high in the last few days. His determination shows right through him, and that is great to see. He communicates better and better every day. While there is no sound coming out, he puts that giant mouth of his to good use. Kirsty even heard him say "S**T" as he was watching a Canucks game Al Boucher had burned on a DVD for him. Yep, the Canucks had just let a goal in and he had something to say about that.
Now, on to the title of this post.
A lot of people have been prepping meals for the Milne's. We can get this organised. There is, believe it or not, a Web site to help manage that (thank you Sylvia for the referral). If you are interested in cooking for the Milne's, click CONTACT under Scott's Blog's banner. It will open a form to send me an e-mail. Enter your e-mail address and "Meals" in the subject line. If you don't receive an invite after a couple of days, check your SPAM folder.
Bottom line is, I need your e-mail to send you an invitation to be part of that meal group . Once you receive the e-mail, you register to it and sign in. You will have access to the Milne's meal schedule. You will see who is bringing what and when. So you can pick a day to bring something, and be sure that you are not bringing the 5th tuna casserole that week.
On that same page, you will see info as to what they don't like (there pretty easy), when there are extra adults staying there and a drop off location (still to be determined).
It might seem overly complicated, but trust me, it is simple. The site was referred to by someone who has been on the receiving end of it, and it works.
Let the cook-off begin.
