I went to the hospital yesterday, just enough to drop the printed copy of all your comments and get some news. Please know that all your comments are transmited and read by Kirsty and Scott. Kirsty mentions everyday how much it is worth for them.
There isn't much to report. Scott is spending more time with the bed in a somewhat sitting position. This is an important step to prepare him to sit, and get out of that bed.
Kirsty realises that so many people are just waiting desperatly to help, and she is at the point were I could see her starting to reach out soon. So keep an eye on here for requests.
Some groups are starting to organise things it seems. For example, the Fire Department are going to take care of the Christmas decorations at the Milnes house. Nice
I am just asking to let your intentions known, either by commenting on here, or by e-mailing me. That way, we don't have duplication of tasks. An other reason is that a lot of things like snow removal for exemple, are things that Kirsty is entitled to from the military.
So let's keep organised so our efforts are as efficient as possible towards the ultimate goal of providing our friends with the maximum amount of free time.

Well, I stopped by the hospital this morning and got a chance to talk to Kirsty.
The tracheotomy was performed on Scott. Kirsty is quite happy about that. The comfort level for him just went up a notch. He can communicate a little easier by using his lips. There is no damage to the vocal chords, so with the help of speech therapy, he'll be able to communicate.
That also opens the door to him eventually being able to drink and get rid of that feeling of dry mouth.
So this is great news. A baby step at the time, we'll travel the road to recovery.
Kirsty also had a chance to read the blog entries, together with Scott. The both of them are extremely touched by all of your comments. Kirsty says we have no idea how much it means.
Please keep posting. While it may feel repetitive, it results in a ton of positive energy for their family.
In due time, Kirsty will be a poster on here. You'll be able to read her as opposed to me, a stranger to most of you.
Thank you.
I brought all your kind words to Kirsty today. I figure it is easier for her to read the comments on paper at her convenience, rather than on a computer screen. She was not available, but Chris, Scott's brother, took them for her.
I am at work for a 24 hour shift, so it is unlikely that I will get any news for you today. I know that they are getting ready to do a tracheotomy on Scott. As mentionned before, it will be much more comfortable for him. I'll keep you posted.
If any of you have any pictures of Scott that you would like to share, please e-mail them to me at claude@scottmilne.ca
In order to facilitate managing all the great comments in multiple posts, older posts will be closed for comments as new ones are created. That is why you might read comments and be unable to leave any in certain posts.
As much as I would like to have anything different to offer, there has been no changes in Scott's condition today. Trust me, as soon as I have something for you, it will be on here.
